As part of AXA Commercial's transformation programme we're looking to grow the front line trading teams across our branch network.

We have a number of exciting opportunities at different trading levels, for Fleet Underwriters in our

The roles are critical to our Branch network success, managing the profitability and income of your own panel of brokers, and owning the financial results for designated accounts and brokers.

You will be required to manage key stakeholders throughout the business and support the technical and trading capability across the teams.

What you'll be doing:

  • Underwrite Mid-Market business profitably, accurately, consistently and in line with established underwriting practices, using the full range of appetite and tools available.
  • Build trading relationships with brokers, through visits and large case liaison, to maximise financial results and to generate pipeline new business opportunities.
  • Establish a reputation as a trading expert at AXA with a panel of intermediaries and build confidence in the branch ability through interaction with our Underwriting Technical Centre.
  • Contribute to meetings with brokers and end customers to portray AXA capabilities and secure new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate contribution to loss ratio control by effectively implementing branch UW controls.
  • Identify poorly performing accounts and investigate reasons for lack of retention. Agree and implement actions with senior underwriter, Trading Team Manager and Account Manager to increase retention.
  • Support SME Hub colleagues in building trading relationships with intermediaries to enable a consistent service to be delivered.

Qualifications:

  • Progress towards CII qualification desirable or equivalent experience.
  • Technical underwriting expertise in a commercial insurance environment, ideally within the Fleet markets
  • Sound understanding of insurance market and processes across commercial lines insurance operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, through written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in decision making on a wide range of technical underwriting scenarios within a Commercial environment.
  • Developed trading capability, commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build strong broker relationships.
  • Pragmatic decision maker with good analytical and numerical reasoning skills.
  • Portfolio analysis skills with proven experience of account monitoring and action planning.
