Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is pleased to be offering an opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to be part of the Musculoskeletal physiotherapy team providing assessment and rehabilitation in a community based setting. The successful applicant will undertake all aspects of clinical duties together with gaining experience working to support the clinical assessment service, undertaking advanced physio-therapeutic assessment of patients with diverse or complex physical, psychological, cognitive and behavioural conditions in order to provide an accurate diagnosis and prognosis. The role may involve rotations within specialist MSK areas which would include pain groups, occupational health and pelvic health. You will also be required to display a working knowledge of community physiotherapy together with supervisory experience and willingness to provide service development.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner including professional and legal accountability and managing clinical risk for all aspects of own work. Some aspects of work will involve delivery of the care as an individual practitioner or as part of a multidisciplinary team. In most cases to be the sole health professional with responsibility for that patient's episode of care.
- To assess and treat a variety of conditions and patient presentations. This includes complex physical, psychological, cognitive and behavioural conditions in order to provide an accurate diagnosis and prognosis.
- To recognise when physiotherapy treatment is inappropriate and when the patient would benefit from the input of another profession and to refer onwards to the appropriate person at the appropriate time.
- To be responsible for organising and planning own caseload to meet service and patient priorities. Re-adjusting plans as situations change / arise.
- May be involved in specialist rotations to include occupational health, working with the shoulder and spinal pathway, pain groups and exercise classes.

- To demonstrate the ability to set realistic functional goals with patients and their carers.
- To recognise when physiotherapy treatment is inappropriate and when the patient would benefit from the input of another profession and to refer onwards to the appropriate person at the appropriate time.
- Maintain and keep up-to-date CPD and competency to practice, through CPD activities including IST's as well as external courses. Maintain and encourage evidence-based practice.
- Be an active member of the team to undertake audits, training and attending regular 1-1's and staff meetings.
- To be responsible for organising and planning own caseload to meet service and patient priorities. Re-adjusting plans as situations change / arise.
- May be involved in specialist rotations to include occupational health, working with the shoulder and spinal pathway, pain groups and exercise classes.
- Diploma/Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
- HPC registration
- Evidence of relevant post graduate courses / CPD
- NHS experience
- Demonstrates current, practical experience in management of musculoskeletal conditions acquired from post graduate training and working as a post graduate physiotherapist in a musculoskeletal setting
- Working knowledge of Community Physiotherapy
- Experience of working in a Multi-Disciplinary Team
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Demonstrates a willingness to develop clinical skills
- Demonstrates a detailed understanding of clinical governance and its implications for service provision
- Detailed knowledge of quality, audit and evidence based practice
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively both independently and unsupervised.
- Demonstrates the ability to carry out independent and unsupervised clinical decision making and problem solving skills
