Women's Inclusive Team (WIT) began in 2003 with a group of mothers that needed the space to chat and support one another with being new parents, trying to get into employment or being healthier as well as much more.

It remained informal for many years but the clear need for a service that specialised in working with the needs of BAME women and particularly Somali women became very apparent.

This led to the organisation becoming structured with trustee, business registration and business accounts etc. It began as the Somali Integration Team, changing its name to the Women's

Inclusive Team in 2018.


At present run for women and their families in Tower Hamlets, the Women's Inclusive Team aim is to support disadvantaged female Tower Hamlets residents to become independent and socially included.

We focus on supporting the needs of BAME women and promoting social cohesion within the wider community.

Empowering women through training, employment, and advice are our core format of delivery and will continue to be the general format of work.

The organisation aims to create more sustainability in the services and support available.

We do this through our training programmes and projects, these include;

  • Accredited Mental Health First Aid
  • Advice and Guidance
  • Community Kitchen and food bank

Context of the role:

  • Following an increase in young people and Mental Health concerns, WIT has been commissioned to run sessions to support young people to have preventative and early intervention. This role will help the Youth Lead with overseeing the Hiddo Coaching projects that support and work with young people in local schools and in our community centre. The role will work closely with parents, Social Media team and stakeholders to ensure the needs and project delivery is captured. The role will also have general overseeing of initiatives around consultations and one-off or short term events/workshops and other youth related projects. To be one of the key contact persons for the charity's in the local community and schools. The role will work closely with qualified Therapists to plan and coordinate group Coaching sessions, in schools and in the WIT centre.
Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Under guidance from the Hiddo Youth Lead and SMT, proactively participate in all training to enable the successful administration of the contracts and the deliverables.
  • Be familiar with and implement all guidance from the WIT Handbook.
  • Report back on a weekly basis and work collaboratively to set the tasks ahead for each week,
based on the agreed priorities.

  • Process all beneficiary data, including sensitive information on vulnerable families registered to the project
  • Process the referral information in line with the contract agreements, allocating the young people referred into the correct groups and sessions.
  • Provide admin to support the Youth Lead with the effective coordination of the Coaching sessions and activities/workshops, making sure this meets the needs of the young people, families and schools.
  • Lead on creating and maintaining the session registers across all sessions, coordinating the information on a weekly basis and reporting this back to the Youth Lead.
  • Raise any concerns about the participation rates of the young people so these can be addressed in a timely and supportive manner by the Youth Lead and therapist.
  • Coordinate the setting up of activities, including sports and workshops.
  • Setup project meetings, parent/ carers information sessions and workshops, while being aware
of and keeping up to date with any changes to the timetables.

  • Complete all information requested by the funder, and in accordance with WIT's processes, policies and procedures.
  • Recording via CRM and other tools and reporting on the outcomes and wider social impact of the organisation and projects. Support with monitoring and evaluation.
  • Support the Programme Youth lead with all monitoring, including the preparation of information for reporting back to the funder and internally of WIT.
  • Keep all records up to date, in accordance with both statutory and funder requirements.
  • Support theYouth Lead to accurately monitor income and expenditure, processing expenses and
payments in accordance with WIT's financial policies and procedures.

  • Adhere to all WIT's policies and procedures, including confidentiality, data sharing, IT/ system security, and safeguarding.
  • Undertake administrative tasks as and when required by the organisation.
