Job summary

The Nottingham Young People Gender Service (NYGS) at the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an enthusiastic senior research assistant to work under the supervision of the head of research of the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health network (NCTHnet) to lead the research and service evaluation for the newly developed NYGS under the supervision of the head of research.

NYGS are recruiting to a new team comprising Consultant Psychiatrist, Paediatrics, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Psychologists, speech and language therapist and Research assistants. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop much needed research projects and longitudinal studies leading the way nationally and international in children and young people's Transgender Health.

Main duties of the job

The post holder should be an experienced research assistant who will act as a research lead at NYGS under supervision. They will:

Support the development of research and service evaluation projects related to NYGS.

Manage research and service evaluation projects related to NYGS.

Supervise day to day junior research assistants and students in developing and conducting research.

Support to develop applications and proposals for external research funding.

Offer collaborative consultation to research projects and provide expert advice in relation to research design, analysis, and statistical procedures to clinical and research staff.

Develop database to undertake longitudinal clinical studies related to transgender health.

Assist in the analysis of data and write-up of research

projects.

Job description

Job responsibilities

NYGS is a multi-disciplinary service offering psycho-social support to young people on the gender affirming medical pathway and looked after by the adolescent endocrinologist service in Leeds and UCL, London. This new service (NYGS) service will work to NHS Englands published interim service specification for specialist gender incongruence services for children and young people (Interim Service Specification).

NYGS will sit within the established NCTH Network which provides the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health Adult Service, the East of England Gender Service, the Linked Clinic activity with Indigo Gender Service and the Linked Clinic activity with the Sussex Gender Service.

Essential

Professional, clinical knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by specialist training to post-graduate diploma level; knowledge of research methodologies

Desirable

Chartered membership of appropriate body Master's degree in the relevant discipline within the health, psychological, social or medical sciences

Experience in conducting empirical research projects in the field of trans health Experience in research design, methodology and sophisticated statistical analysis Experience in supporting service evaluation/research Experience of SPSS and similar packages Experience and skills in systematic reviewing Evidence of publications in peer reviewed journals Ability to provide training and supervision to peers, junior researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students
