Overview:
Supply and Trading (S&T) is the commercial link to the market for Upstream and Downstream & Chemicals (DS&C).

S&T applies its knowledge of commodity markets, the wellhead-to-customer value chain and transportation logistics in the crude, gas, and refined products markets to maximize the value of enterprise assets and enable the commercial success of Upstream and DS&C.

S&T buys, sells, and supplies crude oil, refined products, natural gas, and gas liquids to support Chevron's crude and gas production operations and its refining and marketing network.

S&T integrates enterprise-wide supply and trading capabilities to capture commercial opportunities across the entire value chain through commercial functional excellence.


As well as marketing and trading around Chevron's NGL's and LNG assets Gas Supply and Trading (GSAT) London is responsible for managing the company's activities in the European Natural Gas market.

The European natgas team originates and trades 3rd party contracts and trades capacity in infrastructure to manage the portfolio. The desk also supports Chevron's LNG business in the Atlantic Basin providing liquidity and risk management of volume. The natgas and LNG teams are highly integrated, reporting to the same manager.

The desk is active in the core markets in Europe but is expanding in line with the significant growth in Chevron's Atlantic Basin LNG business.

Responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Trading around the portfolio on the prompt and curve both from a hedging and proprietary trading perspective
  • Trading geographical spreads and storage based time spreads across Europe
  • Develop trading strategies along with the gas and LNG traders
  • Risk management of book with emphasis on VAR and P&L
  • Working alongside the Natural Gas Originator develop, execute and monetize structured deals including regas capacity, storage and transportation capacity
  • Work alongside Natural Gas Commercial Analysts so support develop desk fundamental call and associated fundamental modelling and reporting capability
  • Work alongside analysts and business partners to support development of desk fundamental call and associated fundamental modelling and reporting capability
  • Developing external relationships, particularly in new gas markets in line with the expansion of the Atlantic Basin LNG activity
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for Natural Gas and in particular the region across the wider Chevron enterprise.
  • Participate in the activities of the desk consistent with Chevron policy and controls.

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant experience as a Natural Gas trader in a commercial trading and infrastructure environment, covering at least NBP, TTF, THE, ZTP, PEG, GTF/Danish market & ZTP
  • Experience of trading storage, transportation and GTF.UK-Continental interconnectors
  • Experience of evaluating and trading gas swing products and other nonlinear gas products
  • Deep understanding of Continental European prompt fundamental in particular France, Germany, and Netherlands
  • Previous experience trading technically
  • Experience Gas trading and optimisation around Area D
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas and to represent the strategy and the team both internally and externally in a concise and articulate way, both orally and in writing.
  • In addition, apart from English, proficiency in any of the following languages would be beneficial (French, German etc).
  • Energised team player who will be able to assume considerable responsibilities in a dynamic, fast paced environment, with a focus on achieving sustainable business results.
