Personal Care


To assist the residents with their physical care and personal hygiene needs, ensuring that residents independence is preserved as far as possible and affording appropriate levels of privacy and dignity.

To help to provide supervision and attention to Care Assistants through direct care.

  • To assist in the formulation, review and implementation of care plans, promote and participate in the development of activities which will enhance the quality of life for Residents.
  • To contribute to the ongoing assessment of residents (including the assessment of new residents) observing and recording their physical and emotional condition in an appropriate way and ensuring that any deterioration is promptly responded to in an appropriate manner i.e. contacting a G.P/District Nurse/Social Worker/Family Member as necessary. It is also a requirement to inform the Registered Manager of action taken on their next shift.
  • To contribute to effective communications with residents, their relatives, friends, professional helpers and other members of staff, ensuring the continuity of quality and safety in the provision of personal care services.
  • To liaise with social workers and key workers in conducting residents' reviews to ensure that identified needs are being met and support given to the agreed standards. This will entail the ongoing development of individual care plans and the development of keyworker systems

Staff Supervision:

  • To assist the management of the Home in the management and supervision of staff. To support junior, domestic and catering staff in the maintenance of the philosophy of
    Stonebow Houseand to further the smooth daytoday running of the establishment.
  • To help ensure that the preparation, cooking and serving of food meets the required standard and in particular to draw to the attention of the Manager any variance from planned standard.
  • To participate proactively in staff meetings.
  • To ensure that staff performance is in accordance with residents' requirements and organisational standards. To provide input into staff appraisals (where required) by being able to identify personal development needs.**:

Resource Management:

  • To assist the management at
    Stonebow Houseto manage resources of the establishment.

Medication:

  • To help control the issue of drugs for which the Home has taken responsibility and assist in the maintenance of all necessary records. Operate the Blister Pack Medication System and to liaise with the pharmacist/medical personnel regarding prescriptions.

Health, Safety and Welfare at Work:

  • To support the Registered Manager in the "responsible officer" role for the Home, by making use of all information and equipment supplied for Health and Safety purposes, to promote, comply with and keep updated on all safe working practices as outlined in the Health and Safety Manual.

Records:

  • To support and assist the management to maintain such records as may be required by the registering authority, other public authorities or the proprietors of the Home.

Quality Assurance Programme2.7.1 To be involved in and understand the Quality Assurance Programme in place.

  • Arranging activities for the residents (within budget)
  • Implement changes to daily support in care plans for residents
  • Off duty cover that involves only internal staff.

  • KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:

A minimum of 2 years experience in a caring environment, including NVQ Level III:

  • Experience required**:
  • Communication skills, including report writing
