Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location.

This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.


Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer.

Your trainee year will be filled with meetups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals.

You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.


Your role as a Trainee - Business Controller


You will become an active member of the Business Control team working closely with the Vattenfall Heat UK business, a young, dynamic and growing business unit of Vattenfall.

You will support the business with providing financial and non-financial business insights to steer and improve business operations and the decision-making process.

We provide you with a collaborative leadership environment, a diverse and open-minded team and offer you the possibility to start your career in an entrepreneurial framework.


Your daily activities:

  • Getting familiar with the Heat business in UK and the core tasks of Business Control.
  • Supporting the financial processes in the different subunits.
  • Developing userfriendly digital tools for reporting and forecasting with the aim to improve decision making processes.
  • Actively supporting projects such as acquisitions, partnerships, project controlling.
  • Support the Business Planning Process for all Heat UK entities.
  • Collaboration with the international Business Control community and participating in Business Area Heat wide change programmes.

As a Trainee - Business Controller you recognize yourself in the following:

  • You are a recent graduate (or will graduate in September 2023) with a master's degree in Business Administration with majors in Accounting, Corporate Finance or similar.
  • You have an affinity for business finance and controlling processes whilst also being passionate about IT and improving our tools to become more user friendly.
  • You are talented in structuring complex tasks into manageable bits and pieces.
  • You like to work in a dynamic environment and strive to be part of a growing business.
  • You have good knowledge in Excel and PowerBI from work or study experience


You are our ideal trainee if you are a recent graduate with an academic degree or you graduate before
September 2023.

You are fluent in English. Skills in other world languages can be a merit. You are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization.

And of course, you identify yourself with our principles:
