IRW's International Programmes Division is recruiting for the position of 'MEAL Coordinator' to join its dynamic team based out of its offices in Birmingham, UK.

The organisation is currently working to a hybrid working model.

Job Purpose:

  • Supporting the MEAL oversight of a strategic grant in relation to programme quality which includes collection of data and reporting.
  • To contribute to the delivery of IRW's strategic objectives by promoting and supporting programme improvement and learning, through the generation and sharing of knowledge and insight from MEAL activities, and strengthening the focus on results through identifying and communicating the impact of the organisation's work. This would involve the postholder coordinating on the development and use of technology for MEAL activities particularly in relation to data collection and data analysis.
  • To support the mainstreaming of MEAL into global programmes operations through ensuring adherence to the IRW MEAL Framework and IHSAN Quality Management Standards with a particular focus on larger projects funded by specific donors and IR partners. This would involve coordinating the capacity building of colleagues at regional desk level, country office levels and partner office levels, ensuring that in coordination with the GALL and Programme Impact & MEAL Manager (PIMM), they have appropriate skills, knowledge, and guidance in relation to MEAL Framework and IHSAN Quality Management requirements. This role leads on conducting and maintaining a skills audit of MEAL staff globally, and also deliver appropriate training and capacitybuilding, where required.
  • To coordinate the development and maintenance of a community of practice for global MEAL staff; for the purpose of building and sharing an evidence base of global knowledge, best practice, and lessons learned, including their dissemination across the organisation.
  • To support programme learning through monitoring & evaluation of our programmes both using remote and in person means; working closely with the GALL and PIMM, Senior MEAL Coordinator, and other programme quality and international programme staff.
  • The role supports in conducting and externally commissioning thematic and project evaluations, ensuring that final reporting is robust and supported by evidence, provide actionable recommendations to support future decision making and learning.
  • To coordinate the delivery of all postevaluation After Actions Plans, ensuring that all actions are followed up in a timely manner and that lessons are properly captured, recorded, disseminated across the organisation.
  • Proven analytical ability, both qualitative and quantitative, including ability to process and analyse large amounts of data and information and to present such data in creative and engaging ways.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build strong and effective working relationships, and bringing people together to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Good knowledge of current MEAL thinking.
  • Broad understanding of international development and humanitarian programming approaches and willingness to develop deeper understanding of various sectors.
  • An ability to work on own initiative, as part of teams of people of diverse backgrounds, and to have a flexible attitude to work.
  • Proven ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise both oral and wellwritten reports.
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Respecting confidentiality and ability to present challenging findings in a factual yet sensitive manner.
  • Proven experience in analysing data which enables sound conclusion and recommendations to be drawn.
  • An understanding of the use of and gaining insight from data and research, to add value.
  • Experience of international development or humanitarian programming at operational levels.
  • An ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, and influence them towards achieving a goal.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with often changing and competing priorities.
