Poultry Manager - Rare Breeds Chickens and Turkeys - The Role:

We are looking to recruit someone with a passion and interest in poultry to take care of our expanding poultry department.


An initial training period will be provided which will be spent working with the Estate Manager and other estate staff.

Upon successful completion of this training, you will then lead the growth and expansion of the chickens and turkeys as set out from theEstate vision, for which you will be responsible for growth, purchasing equipment and assisting with marketing products.

Part of the role will be to obtain various licenses to run and sell the poultry products.

Poultry Manager - Rare Breeds Chickens and Turkeys - Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and set up the equipment
  • Research future Pastured poultry feed options
  • Obtain licences needed to produce and sell the eggs and poultry products
  • Responsible for hatching, feeding the birds, livestock husbandry, pasture grazing, slaughtering and egg collection
  • Successfully market and sell the products
  • Product development
  • Managing all aspects of production including scheduling, raw material purchasing and stock control, cleaning, managing the dispatch of stock and control of inventory
  • Assist with the processing unit on a daily basis including all checks, recording data and monitoring
  • Cleaning as required including an understanding of health and safety
  • Packaging and all aspects of quality assurance
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Ability to create and improve operating and safety procedures and an understanding of quality assurance scheme standards which includes Organic standards

Poultry Manager - Rare Breeds Chickens and Turkeys - You:

  • Flexible with working hours
  • Have access to own transport due to the location
  • Knowledge of health, safety and hygiene requirements in production of food
  • Have a driving licence
  • Experience of working with poultry
  • Ability to sell and market products
