Main Purpose of Job:

Reporting to the UK SHE Manager, responsibility for ensuring environmental compliance on site, driving improvements, and delivering best practice. Responsible for providing influential, pragmatic, and practical direction for the UK sites.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all employees and third parties comply with the Company's Environment, Health and Safety Policy and that safety practices and legislation practices are adopted and adhered to
  • Coordinates, and assists with Environmental, Health and Safety policy and practice, making recommendations for the implementation of new policies and procedures in order to drive safe behaviours and an improvement in safety culture
  • Maintain Environmental management systems to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, the site's environmental permits, safety reports and certification
  • Supports Managers, Team Leaders and Supervisors with permit compliance and opportunities for improvements.
  • Provide environmental advise and support for projects
  • Manage environmental actions and improvement conditions
  • Assist with the identification of competency needs for employee's delivery of required training, and maintaining the training matrix
  • Track and report on an agreed set of Environmental KPI's
  • Maintain and update all relevant environmental records
  • Manage and / or assist with regulatory and compliance audits, for example SEPA, Environmental Agency and legal register actions
  • Manage ISO14001 certification
  • Carry out reporting requirements for each sites permit
  • Conducts internal audits to evaluate SHE systems and procedures, and identify and suggest improvements
  • Investigates, or where appropriate, assists others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents, near misses and nonconformances and coordinates necessary steps to prevent a recurrence

  • Be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached to your role; Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by the Company.

Safety, Health and Environment

  • Carry out all activities in line with the Company's SH&E rules and guidelines
  • Always wear Personal Protection Equipment as required. Take responsibility for your own PPE ensuring appropriate storage and care
  • Always work in a manner safe to yourself and others and report any hazards immediately
  • Ensure all staff and visitors operate in compliance with Safety Regulations
  • Make yourself aware of all Emergency procedures and Responses

Qualifications/ Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A NEBOSH / IEMA certificate or equivalent

Desirable:

  • A NEBOSH / IEMA Environmental Diploma or equivalent
  • A safety qualification

Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience working with permit compliance, management systems, and ability to demonstrate a full understanding of current legislation.
  • Ability to challenge current working practices in a practical and engaging way
  • Strong communication and engagement skills with the ability to influence at all levels in the organisation
  • Experience of multifunctional working
