Balfour Beatty's Ground Engineering business is positioned as the UK's leading specialist geotechnical contractor, drawing on its knowledge and expertise in delivering innovative piling and ground improvement solutions across all sectors, focussing on providing the solid foundations for buildings of any height, ranging from city skyscrapers to house foundation packages.


As a
Skilled Piling Operative (Driven Precast Piling), **you will ensure all piling operations are carried out safely, Including coordination of the plant & vehicle movements on the site, efficiently and to a good standard.


What you'll be doing

Other key responsibilities will be:

  • Leading by example
  • Being proactive and thinking ahead on the project by working closely with the Supervisors
  • Deliver toolbox talks and getting involved in morning briefings
  • Procedural requirements (for example: piling platform and Permits, use of radios, Piling rig Lift plans, Plant exclusion zones)
  • Ensure the works are carried out in the most efficient and safe manner
  • Report all near misses, hazards or observations via the hotline and to the site Supervisor
  • Follow company/manufacturers procedures to ensure standards are met
  • Notify the Site Supervisor of any matters that affect the progress of works (including breakdowns & damages, etc.)
  • Ensure daily maintenance checks are carried out, reports are correctly completed on time and submitted to the site Supervisor
  • Ensure relevant task briefings have been carried out prior to tasks undertaken
  • Make sure the quality and quantity of work produced is at required levels
  • Be prepared to work overtime/flexible on breaks as and when the contract requires

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Multiskilled (for example MEWP, Fire Marshall, Traffic Marshall, Harness Training, Manual Handling,)
  • Be able to move to different disciplines within Ground Engineering (CFA, LDP & Mini)
  • Good communication skills (to all levels including Supervisors)
  • Slinger/Signaller & Piling Rig Attendant CPCS card
  • HSE CSCS card
  • Relevant manufacture/supplier training where required
  • Knowledge of piling techniques in rotary discipline
