Summary / Role Purpose
The Senior R&D Verification Engineer joins the Ansys Licensing team and is responsible for the software testing of Licensing API and Cloud-based services. This role uses advanced engineering and software skills to assess how well these services meet customer functionality and usability needs while ensuring that requirements and quality standards are met. The Senior R&D Verification Engineer works closely with other members of the development team and communicates with technical specialists to identify and resolve issues.

The Ansys Licensing team is responsible for developing and delivering web-hosted licensing solutions to support a growing base of users, empowering customers to efficiently manage and use their licensed products, and to provide user access to data related to their accounts. These are business critical services that require rigorous and thorough testing to ensure these services meet, and continue to meet, the stringent requirements of our customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Specify and write test cases; create, modify, and update tests; write and maintain test scripts.

• Create and maintain suites of API tests to validate development changes and verify adherence to API requirements.

• Work with developers to discover edge cases and ensure service quality.

• Perform functional, application, regression, and performance testing in manual and automated test environments.

• Monitor regression and continuous performance tests; identify and highlight issues to be resolved.

• Create test plans and contribute to testing initiatives, review coverage analysis and testing metrics in specific areas, participate in defect management.

• Apply technical and professional knowledge in specialized areas and investigate complex product issues and problems.

• Analyze product requirements and develop tests for new features.

• Work with other Licensing teams to ensure coverage of end-to-end tests.

• Coordinate testing efforts with application testing teams using Licensing services.

• Work in a variety of computing environments: Windows, Linux, VM's, Cloud

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years of experience, MS with 3 years of experience, or PhD with one year of experience.

• Strong computing skills with demonstrated knowledge of RESTful API, JSON schemas, sustainable testing practices, requirements and needs of maintaining business critical services.

• Commercial experience with JavaScript/Typescript and/or JS test frameworks (e.g. Mocha), using and testing HTTP APIs.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with testing distributed services, Swagger/OpenAPI specifications, testing in an Agile development environment, use of Azure tools and resources (Log Analytics, Application Insights, Cosmos DB, Kubernetes, etc.), , Python and Python-based testing tools.

• Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial organization.

• Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
