An exciting opportunity has arisen for 5 full-time qualified Psychological Well-being Practitioners (PWPs) to join Cambridge and Peterborough Psychological Wellbeing Service (PWS) on permanent contracts.


The post holders will be enthusiastic, hard working and able to meet specified targets in order to deliver a high quality Primary Care Mental Health Service to the local population.

The post is a combination of working from base and home/remote working, in line with patient's needs.

We have basis in different locations, including Cambridge, Huntington, Peterborough, Fenland.


The service has recently benefited from increased investment, which has led to associated increase in the numbers of patients entering psychological treatments and increased range of interventions and initiatives undertaken by the teams.

Our clinical teams deliver many NHS services not only via inpatient and primary care setting but also with the community.

These services include Children, Adult & Older Peoples mental & physical health, Forensic & Specialist mental health, Learning Disabilities, Primary Care & Liaison psychiatry, Substance misuse, Social care, Research & Development.

Ensure clinical interventions are implemented in line with the latest NICE guidelines for psychological interventions.


To work with team members to ensure that protocols and arrangements are in place and adhered to, so that clients are stepped up and down to and from the service as required.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the clinical activity of the service.

This will involve holding a clinical caseload and working within PWS and team standards.

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.

Assess and support people with a common mental health problem.

Make decisions on the suitability of referrals adhering to the service protocols and guidelines.

Provide low intensity interventions for cases referred to the team.

This will involve the use of evidence based psychological interventions based on guided self help, provision of psycho-educational and local resources information etc.

This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media.

Support the development and delivery of PWS group programme as appropriate.

Adhere to all clinical policies and procedures.

Maintain high clinical standards in all aspects of the work.


Under senior colleagues guidance and supervision to undertake risk assessment and develop risk management plans for clients, stepping up where appropriate to high intensity, locality team or crisis teams.


To provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of care in line with Trust and inter-agency policies and procedures, including work with clients deemed as vulnerable adults.

To communicate, in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, to clients, family carers and others as appropriate.


To produce reports on clients in a timely manner, that convey the key findings of the psychological intervention in a way that does justice to the complexity of the problems described, but that are understandable to the recipients of the reports, including clients and referrers.


To work in partnership with other disciplines and to maintain links with statutory and non-statutory agencies as appropriate, in relation to return to employment.

To attend team meetings or other relevant meetings as deemed appropriate.

Be required to conduct presentations as appropriate in forums such as team meetings and GP meetings.

To adhere to supervision guidelines for the service.

BPS/BABCP registration status or working toward accreditation as a qualified PWP required.
