Data Engineering Specialist

Salary circa £65,000

Aviva are currently looking for a vastly experienced Data Engineering Specialist to join the business on a permanent basis, who has expertise in data engineering and design and have managed a team before and have done stakeholder management. The candidate should have proven expertise in CLOUD & modern OLAP platforms.

A bit about the job:

As a Data Engineering Specialist, you will be looking after a team to deliver wider capability across Aviva. The role currently sites within Solutions Team in IWR which works on enablement and helps introduction of new technologies in our tech stack.

You are someone who should have good expertise in data on cloud (AWS Preferable), and someone who can demonstrate experience around distributed frameworks like APACHE SPARK & modern OLAP platforms like Snowflake.

You will be looking after a team of 4, so experience of being able to motivate, manage and assist your team is key.

Skills and experience we're looking for:
  • Good understanding and hands on experience with cloud technologies in AWS, EMR-FS, Glue Data Catalogue, S3, SQS, Lambda (AWS preferable).
  • Good experience in modern OLAP technologies like Snowflake & Lake house implementation with AWS integrations.
  • Good to have experience in the streaming side of technology like Apache Kafka, Kinesis, and no SQL databases like Dynamo DB, demonstrable experience in PYTHON with frameworks like SPARK & good understanding on SNOWPARK & SNOWSQL.
  • Experience around Scheduling tool like Apache AIRFLOW or AWS managed MWAA, is a plus.
  • Proven Leadership and management experience; previously worked within financial services sector (preferred, not essential).

  • Starting salary circa £65,000 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)
