The team
Emmerdale is one of ITV's most successful, award-winning long running drama series.

We are looking for a 2nd AD with a proven credit list of working as a competent 2nd and 3rd AD on drama, to join Emmerdale on a 12 month contract.

This is a unique role, specific to Emmerdale, whereby the jobholder rotates between working on a block of episodes as a 2nd AD, and then as a 3rd AD, as scheduled.


The role


As a 2nd AD the main function is to support the 1st AD with organising and planning the day's shoot, working closely with the 3rd AD/Runners as a point of information and main communicator to ensure the smooth running of the production unit.

As a 3rd AD your duties will be to work alongside the 1st AD on-set, whilst liaising and supporting the 2nd AD to ensure that all instructions are relayed accurately between cast and crew.

This combined role offers much variety between working as a 2nd, whilst retaining your on-set skills as a 3rd.

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)

  • Have a wide range of experience working, preferably on drama, in both the capacity of a 2nd AD and as 3rd AD.
  • Experience working in TV drama.
  • The ability to work under pressure and long hours.
  • Previous experience and ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure, effectively reprioritising workload as necessary.
  • Full, clean, manual driving licence (or equivalent arrangements as part of a reasonable adjustment where a disability has been disclosed) essential.
  • Knowledge of different working hours eg artistes, supporting artistes, children, crew.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Drive.
  • Experience working under pressure within schedule deadlines.
  • You must have experience of, and are happy to, lift items safely. These may be heavy and/or awkward in size or shape.
