What you'll be doing

Key accountabilities

  • Accountable for the management of the Energy and Carbon function including:
  • Energy and Net Zero Carbon programme ownership & sponsorship
  • Portfolio/ programme management
  • Energy and Carbon Strategies
  • Energy and Carbon Reporting
  • Energy and Carbon Analytics
  • Energy Commercial Buying & Contracts
  • Accountable for ensuring adequate processes and plans are in place for effective assurance.
  • Accountable for building relationships both internally and externally to achieve successful delivery, exploring opportunities for improved collaboration and innovation.
  • Accountable for developing and leading a high performing, competent, capable, and engaged team.
  • Accountable for inspiring and enthusing the people in their team through effective engagement, developing talent and enabling career progression, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Responsible for identifying and promoting the use of better techniques/ technology / systems and facilitating a continuous improvement and a learning culture.

What you should bring to the role

  • Minimum of honours degree (or equivalent).
  • Formal professional recognition through relevant body.
  • Project and Programme Management.
  • People, financial, project and programme management experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Energy and Carbon in a complex, realtime operations environment.
  • Knowledge of procurement, managing contractual and supplier interfaces, legal compliance, financial management and controls, project delivery processes and project controls.
  • Strong senior level leadership skills to lead and motivate a multidisciplinary professional team and driving results within a matrix structure.
  • Extensive experience in providing professional support to deliver complex projects, including integrating supply chain capability to support delivery of internal projects.
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels, and strong negotiating skills with an ability to build buy in to ideas and concepts.
  • Proven ability to manage a programme of delivery.
  • Ability to speedily analyse complex situations and make critical decisions quickly, own problems, thinks strategically and delivers results.
  • A talent for leadership; inspiring, coordinating, and empowering teams.
  • A passion for continuous professional development and an active approach to driving diversity.
