Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn Orthopaedic Outpatient Department.

We are looking for an individual who upholds our trust values to contribute to making our patients feel comfortable and well cared for during their stay.

You are required to be flexible and adaptable to meet the ever changing needs of the unit environment. Our aim is to provide our patients with the highest quality of personal care and support while they are in a Healthcare Assistant, you will be responsible for working under delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

You will complete the Healthcare Assistant GROW induction programme. This includes mandatory training (the training that all clinical staff at the hospital complete).

Main duties of the job

The Orthopaedic OPD provides care for orthopaedic and trauma patients as well as elective pre and postoperative care.

As a Health Care Assistant within the department you will be working in collaboration with Doctors, Nurses and Orthopaedic Practitioners to provide specialised care for adult and paediatric patients.

The role involves assisting in the running of a variety of clinics, including fracture clinic, completing clinic preparation and coding, ensuring the department is well stocked, clean and organised and also providing hands on patient care.

Duties include providing basic wound care, caring for patients in plaster casts and splints, patient education, chaperoning and advocacy and assistance with clinic procedures
