Are you a qualified Play Specialist with a Foundation degree in Healthcare Play Specialism and experience of working with children or young people in a healthcare environment?

If the answer is yes and you are looking for a new challenge we have the job for you An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join us on the PANDA Unit as our Play Therapist.

On the PANDA unit we are a dedicated team who provide excellent treatment and care for unwell children and Young People in the Emergency Department at Salford Care Organisation.

We are passionate about delivering safe, clean and personal care for the patient and their family as well as ensuring a positive work environment where staff can thrive.

Your responsibilities would include working closely with the team to encourage and supervise play according to age and ability for Children and Young People and have the opportunity to create and maintain a therapeutic environment.

Main duties of the job

To prepare and support the patient appropriately through play and distraction during any clinical activity/procedure that is to be undertaken Provide therapeutic play Ensure the Paediatric department has a range of activities available to children and their families daily - supporting activities as appropriate Provide a safe environment for children attending the department by ensuring all play equipment is clean and fit for purpose. Removing and reporting any damaged equipment to Department Sister. To promptly alert the team where there are any changes in the patient's health and well-being or any possible risks Actively safeguard the welfare of children and escalate any safeguarding concerns and implement child protection procedures accordingly
