  • Working closely with others in the Chief Executive's Office, the Executive Leadership Team's private offices, colleagues from across the organisation, and external partners, you will:
  • Manage the Chief Executive's busy diary
  • Coordinate their travel, leave and expenses
  • Organise meetings and greet visitors
  • Manage the office's shared inbox
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Chief Executive and their office
  • Work closely with the team to advise the Chief Executive on their communications and engagement


In this varied and challenging role you will also have the opportunity to join the Chief Executive on visits around the country and get involved in our emergency response should a large environmental incident occur.

The team

  • The Chief Executive's Office is a small, supportive team that works together to deliver on behalf of the Chief Executive. This includes helping them prioritise and deliver EA2025, the organisation's action plan to help create a better place for people, wildlife and the environment.
  • The team sits within the Governance and Engagement department. This department focuses on supporting our senior leaders, handling sensitive issues, and engaging with Parliament, Ministers and key stakeholders.
Experience/skills required

  • Essential:
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to work at pace and reprioritise when needed.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using MS Office and ability to learn internal systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Able to work well in a team and individually.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting senior leaders.
  • Experience working with sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of the work of the Environment Agency and/or government.

  • As this role requires you to meet and greet visitors, it will mean attendance in our 2 Marsham Street Office will be required at least once per week, usually Tuesdays. Occasional other travel will sometimes be required.
