Your key responsibilities will include:

  • To ensure that a safe working environment exists for the employees in the department and that as a minimum all areas/ lines meet the standards set out in the Site Safety Plan.
  • The highest quality and food safety standards are embedded through the department and standards of hygiene and good housekeeping appropriate to the quality food manufacturer are maintained (GMP)
  • Creates an environment where individuals feel able to continually challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement
  • Utilise appropriate agreed production line KPI's as a basis for the development of performance improvement plans within the department and cascade these KPI's through the teams, ensuring that they are translated and used at all levels
  • Plan, organise and measure resources to achieve or exceed expected performance results through the delivery and successful completion of the site appraisal procedure and set objectives
  • Owns safety, training and development of all individuals in the department to enable progression to resource growth or to replace roles (Succession Planning).
  • To maintain excellent communication through the different departments and functions, ensuring plans are adhered too and appropriate stock levels of packaging and raw materials are achieved
  • Work with the department teams ensuring all shift rituals including safety are followed and selfaudited
  • Motivates, develops and empowers team members to achieve set targets and personal goals
  • Encourages team work and develops good relationships with all factory areas
  • To address under performance following company guide lines and procedures
  • To ensure the department possesses to right number of people in the right area at the right time with the right skill set required
  • Treats others with respect and provides support to team members when required
  • Effective communication to the department team ensuring all relevant information is communicated and cascaded down to the appropriate levels
  • Encourages the team to be open and honest, tell the truth and give straight answers
  • To work within the company appraisal procedure to ensure constructive, clear feedback is given to the workforce individuals, supporting their performance and developmental needs
  • Continuously seeks a better way/ does not accept the status quo
  • Work with the planning function to ensure a smooth delivery of the daily schedule/ plan and raw material stocks including packaging are monitored and controlled
  • Monitors performance of own and others for attaining targets and results. Knows, understands and drives line KPI's while maintaining the highest professional manufacturing and quality standards
  • Insists on the highest level of external and internal customer standards and focus
  • Ensures accurate line staffing numbers and line run rates, challenging where necessary and recommending changes where required with the support of the line managers
