Over the last 33 years Chapel Cottage Plants have established ourselves as one of the largest and most well-known Hardy Perennial growers in the UK.

Starting from a small 1 acre site back in 1989, we now have over 35 acres of land under production.

Our customers and the products we supply are always our main priority and building on this mentality has allowed us to build up our very large customer portfolio from independent garden centre's along with a number of the UK's larger garden retail chains and multiple stores.

We are looking for a confident enthusiastic Assistant Grower to work alongside our existing small team of propagation staff.

Ensuring targets and deadlines are met.

Have a good understanding of Pests and Diseases and a good knowledge and understanding of Hardy plant production.

Assist the Propagation Manager to organise, supervise and run the Propagation team.


Be responsible for the operation of the seed sowing machine along with taking responsibility of the upkeep and maintenance within the propagation unit.

Take charge of specific activities, areas or staff as delegated by the Propagation manager.

Carry out the general responsibilities and duties of a permanent member of staff and supervisor.

Inspect and quality check product.

Work in other departments when necessary.

Follow procedures and documentation, communicate clearly to management and colleagues.

Be involved in all aspects of production from Propagation to despatch.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:

  • Production or related experience.
  • Horticultural experience would be desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Courteous, polite and professional communicator.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, to complete department and customer tasks.
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines and targets
  • Team player (essential).
  • Time management crucial and ability to prioritise workload.
