An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic school nurse to lead the BiBorough School Health Service.


The service sits within Inner London Children's Services, providing the successful applicant with a strong and welcoming peer group of knowledgeable leaders and managers delivering the whole spectrum of universal and additional needs children's services.


Applicants will have a strong knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme, be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to influence and manage change, and be willing to work creatively and collaboratively with staff in the service, commissioners and stakeholders, and the Inner London Children's Services leadership team to the benefit of children and young people.


This is a newly recommissioned contract, with an exciting expanded remit, so this post offers the chance to help shape the service in new and exciting ways.

To provide management of the School Health Service including responsibility for the day to day service delivery.

To act as a role model for School Nursing practice facilitating and supporting the delivery of effective patient care.

To develop partnership opportunities and joint working with clinical and non-clinical professionals, and liaise with other agencies as appropriate.

To lead the School Health Service in service improvements and developments, including the implementation of a new service specification.

To line manage Team Leads and Specialist Nurses, from varying backgrounds, both clinical and non
- clinical, ensuring that individual staff performance, appraisal and development is robustly undertaken to optimise both individual and organisational performance and that all staff have access to continuing professional education and development to maximise performance.


To support the School Health Service to perform effectively in service delivery and ensure effective and positive communication, promoting both multidisciplinary and multi-agency working ensuring Safeguarding policies and standards are adhered to.


To act as a senior clinical champion for school nursing influencing staff to make change, ensuring that service improvements are acceptable and sustainable across both professional and organisational boundaries.

To be a source of high level clinical expertise across the field of school nursing, by providing both general and specialist advice for clinicians delivering interventions, on the full range of relevant issues including nursing aspects of risk assessment and management

To work alongside key colleagues to develop appropriate and constructive relationships both within and external to the organisation.

To ensure that appropriate methods are used to support the inclusion of patient's perspectives within service improvements.

To identify and lead on the delivery of productivity and efficiency savings within the School Health Service.


Lead the implementation of the School Nursing model and service developments implementing change management processes in order to fully support staff.


To work with the Medical and Clinical Leads; implementing systems and processes to manage risk and ensure full compliance with internal and external governance procedures within School Nursing.

To contribute to and participate in the annual business planning cycle.


Prepare written and oral progress reports setting out progress in relation to the work and learning within the various services.


To monitor capacity and demand across Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and to highlight pressures on the service or required developments to the Service Manager.

Ensure all Trusts/service policies are disseminated, understood and implemented across the service.

Undertake risk management, quality standard setting and clinical effectiveness across the service.

Investigate complaints and serious or potentially serious incidents within the service area, ensuring the investigation is thorough and speedy and that remedial action is taken.


Act as a role model in expert practice facilitating and supporting the delivery of effective care by use of clinical judgement and decision-making skills.

Uses the framework of informed consent.


Lead on the professional development of the School Health Service ensuring it meets the needs of the Service Development Plan.


Work closely with Schools, Local Authority, GP's and other statutory agencies ensuring that there is clear public and service user involvement.
