I am working with the UK's largest housing association, who are looking for
5 Support Workers in Tonbridge, Kent.

Hourly Rate:
£10.42

Hours:36 per week (Based on a 4-week rolling shift pattern rota)

Contract Type:
Temporary, with the likelihood of ongoing.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience isn't always necessary. If you have the right attitude, good customer service skills, share our values and are willing to learn, you're likely to be a great fit. A full training package will be provided to new members of our team to help themdevelop the skills to become a great support worker.
  • You must be able to work day shifts, evenings and sleepins on a rota basis.
  • Staff are required to sleep on 23 times a week.(Sleepin rate of £80 per night)
  • Applicants must be able to travel across regions as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Recognise and respect each service user as an Individual who has abilities, ideas, responsibilities, wishes, hopes and feelings.
  • At all times, show a respectful attitude to each service user through your body language, tone of voice and verbal and written communications. Be aware of and respond to the individual methods of communication used by each service user, including body languageand signing.
  • Support and keywork service users to achieve individual goals as set out in each service user's Person Centred Support Plan. Share written records of support plans, person centred planning and teaching plans with the service user.
  • As an individual, team and the service, respect and actively encourage the cultural and religious beliefs and needs of individual service users.
  • Encourage the independence of service users by recognising and developing existing skills, in ways that take account of their individual abilities, anxieties, preferences and health needs.
  • Assist service users to develop skills and confidence in budgeting, food shopping and meal preparation.
  • Support service users to plan journeys, trips, activities and holidays away from the project or home. Accompany and support the service user where appropriate.
  • Support service users to develop and maintain relationships with family and friends outside of the project or at home.
  • Communicate effectively with relatives, advocates and other professionals who support the service users.
  • Support service users to find and keep appropriate jobs, continue their education or training, and/or take part in valued and fulfilling activities.
