The identification, research, venturing, and deployment of new processes, connected technology products and services and new business models to unlock maximum value from innovation for De Beers Build on existing foundations to commercialise technologies to 3rd parties - growing profitable new revenue streams

These deliverables provide an emphasis on integration and delivery of connected technologies to optimize the existing core business whilst advancing our continued exploration of new business models that unlock maximum value for the De Beers Group, while also establishing and pursuing a pathway to profitable growth and additive revenue streams.

The main purpose of this role is to provide functional, performance and reliability test expertise to different development streams within the De Beers development team. This will be a hands-on role and will consist of developing, conducting and documenting test cases on a variety of De Beers products, in accordance with De Beers Group Technology standards and procedures.

Adhere to relevant safety and environmental standards and protocols – ensure tests are carried out in accordance with safety standards and in a safe working environment. Conduct thorough testing of automated diamond sorting machines and instruments – carry out tests on a variety of diamond sorting machines and instruments according to test cases and test suites managed in TestRail or DevOps. Setup and operate testing equipment - simulate real-world conditions and evaluate machine performance and reliability. Perform functional, performance and reliability testing – evaluate the performance of sorting machines to identify areas for improvement and bugs in both software and hardware. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines – work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as electronics, PLC/software development, mechanical design and product management, to understand machine specification, features, and requirements. Document and visualize test results to a high standard– thoroughly and accurately document all test case results, observations, and any issues encountered during testing in TestRail or DevOps as well as Confluence. Communicate findings to the team and relevant audience. Assist in the development and management of test plans and test cases – assist in the specification, design, and development of test plans and cases to ensure comprehensive coverage and accuracy. Provide feedback and suggestions for product improvements - based on test results and observations made during the testing cycle, suggest, document and communicate to the product team potential areas of improvement. Raise and manage bugs noted during the machine testing process. Undertake machine setup and maintenance – prepare equipment and machines for testing including changing components where required to compare performance and functionality. Ensure machines and equipment are kept in good working order and perform relevant operator maintenance. Practices and demonstrates the departments ways of working, values and core beliefs – consistently displays De Beers values and ways of working whilst collaborating with other team members and the wider engineering group. Qualifications: Collaborative team-player with excellent verbal and written communication skills Passionate about problem solving and making data led decisions Desirable to have experience working with electro-mechanical systems such as CNC and/or automation. Laser experience is beneficial Advanced Excel skills utilised to analyse data, direct further experimental test suites, and communicate findings Experience in designing and running experiments to validate key hypotheses Strong analytical skills with ability to capture, analyse, and understand data generated through experiments Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner Experience of working in agile environment Believes in continuous learning and staying abreast of latest technologies Preferable to have minimum BSc in mechanical, or applicable engineering disciplines
