The SENDCo Early Years Practitioner role requires a passionate individual who is committed to providing exceptional care and support to children with special educational needs and/or disabilities in an early years setting.

Brief outline of Responsibilities:

  • Manage SEND provision, ensuring individual requirements are met.
  • Monitor and record children's development and support children with special needs.
  • Maintain records and communicate progress to parents and professionals regularly.
  • Assist in staff training on inclusive practices.
  • Collaborate with management for effective SEN provision.
  • Work with external agencies to support individualised provision.
  • Implement the principles of EYFS. Contribute to planning, activities, and routines.
  • Develop and implement personalised plans for children with special needs.
  • Support children's care, play, relationships, and development.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 qualification in early years education.
  • Experience as a SENCO in early years.
  • Ability to cooperate and adhere to health and safety policy, practices and instructions
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children issues and procedures
  • Excellent understanding about the development and learning needs of young children
  • Ability to assess and access children's development
  • Caring and compassionate towards diverse needs.
