We are looking to recruit Clinical Support Worker Higher Level to work in our busy Urgent treatment Centre at the Friarage Hospital.

The Urgent Treatment Centre aims to provide a high standard of personal care to patients, relatives and carers.

As a member of the multi-disciplinary team you will be required to assist with the patient care of patients who will present with various conditions under the supervision of the Emergency Nurse Practitioners/Emergency Care Practitioners and Medical staff.

Performing patient care and treatments; following a period of training will be expected. A friendly and welcoming approach is vital, as well as being patient and understanding, as patients, relatives and carers may well be anxious, angry or upset; thus offering reassurance.

You will be able to follow instructions, work accurately and methodically, work as part of a team, but also able to use own initiative.

The role will require you to ensure that daily cleaning is performed, stores and equipment tidied away and that the patient areas are damp dusted after use in line with infection control measures.

You must have - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 & Care certificate.

This job also includes basic Reception duties; full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

Provide and receive basic routine information to/from patients, occasionally of a sensitive nature in relation to attendances, correspondence and associated Trust Processes, Policies and Procedures.

Be actively involved in the prevention of Hospital acquired infections by adhering to Policies relating to infection, prevention and control Assist in the preparation of patients for transfers to other Wards/Hospitals

Application of plaster casts following a period of training.

Perform necessary patient observations/treatments, as directed by the supervising Nurse/Clinician.

Prepare patients for examination by the ENP/ECP/Clinician and act as chaperone where necessary

Perform designated patient care activities whilst working under supervision and assist Registered staff in the provision of a high standard of personal patient care and associated duties to all patients taking into account their individual needs

Essential criteria

Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 Care certificate Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; -Theoretical knowledge -Experience of a range of care and related procedures -clinical observations -knowledge of relevant legislation

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria

Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation. Ability to demonstrate the importance of holistic person-centred care and related procedures. Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions and observations and metrics.
