Brighton & Hove Community CAMHS - BAND 6 - Community Mental Health Nurse Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity for a Community Mental Health Nurse Specialist to join an enthusiastic CAMHS team in Brighton & Hove

The post is hours per week.

This post offers a incentive, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of £4000 (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions).

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be working with young people and their families who have been referred into CAMHS via Brighton & Hove Wellbeing Service. The post will involve triaging, and undertaking initial assessments and developing risk and care plans with young people.

The post holder will be required to undertake initial assessments for children and young people referred into the service, ensuring safeguarding, risk management and care planning are implemented to the highest standard and at all times that the service offers effective patient-centred care. You will be expected to hold a diverse case load of young people with complex emotional needs which requires significant attention to detail particularly around risk management in the community, thus co-ordinating and working with external agencies such as social care and education etc.

You will be supported by more senior members of the team and offered supervision and reflective practice. You will also have the opportunity to co-facilitate groups and treatment alongside multidisciplinary team colleagues to offer evidenced based care.

Job responsibilities

Professional Functions

To develop & maintain specialist clinical mental health nursing skills and expertise in the assessment of young people referred to CAMHS via SPOA

To offer advice on management of patients with mental health issues and physical symptoms.

To ensure assessment, care and support of each client is appropriate to individual needs.

To feed back outcome of assessment to the young person, family and referrer and collaboratively agree care and safety plans.

To ensure that children and young people requiring further assessment and help are referred on appropriately.

To provide consultation to other professionals regarding mental health issues in relation to young people and their families

To know how to access appropriate services and develop effective networks and channels of communications.

To adhere to relevant code of Professional Conduct.

To attend case conferences & meetings as relevant to the job description.

Work in accordance with Sussex Partnership Foundation NHS and East Sussex Hospital trusts policies, guidelines and protocols.

Managerial

To ensure care plans and risk plans are timely, collaborative and high quality

To participate in individual professional supervision

Educational

To identify ones own training needs through a Personal Development Plan (PDP). Access relevant courses/conferences nationally or locally as identified on

To demonstrate awareness of research and its applications to practice.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent Evidence of continuous professional development

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

Significant post qualifying experience in the relevant care group Experience of working alongside people with complex health problems in the designated care group Experience of supervising staff Experience of providing a range of clinical interventions to people in the designated care group with a variety of health problems Experience of working consultatively with professionals Experience of conducting clinical assessments including risk assessments Experience of partnership working within and across various statutory and non statutory teams and agencies Experience of working within the CPA process Understanding of clinical governance Previous experience of working in the community
