Brief Description:


Direct and manage the development and implementation of major renewal and enhancement projects, funded by government, customer, stakeholder, or multiple funders, where Network Rail assumes a sponsorship role.

Deliver the project benefit realisation to agreed scope, time and cost.

About the role (External):

Some Key Accountabilities of the role:

Lead and maintain relationships with nominated customers and stakeholders:

Be the single point of contact for the North East Route third party investment enquiries:

Work with customers and stakeholders to identify new opportunities for third party investment in rail infrastructure and assets:

Lead on new funding and investment opportunities for Rail across the North East Route:

5.

Champion the interests of customers and stakeholders within Network Rail, making it easier for them to engage with, and invest in Rail:

6.

Develop proposals from customers and stakeholders in line with business planning criteria, including consideration of viability within the strategic planning process, timetable opportunities and/or constraints, operational implications, and any property interfaces:

7.

Lead commercial negotiations with customers including the terms of contracts for implementation and/or provision of non-contestable asset protection services:

8.

Sponsor the development and delivery of externally funded schemes, monitoring whether customer and stakeholder requirements are met against scope, cost, quality ad programme:

Challenge and intervene as required to support customers and stakeholders.

Be the point of escalation to resolve and unblock issues and/or adverse impacts in project development and/or delivery

Comply with requirements of Network Rails Investment Regulations and other corporate governance/guidance where relevant:

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified to degree level and/or be able to demonstrate a commensurate level of technical experience in an infrastructure sponsorship/project management environment
  • Commercially astute, persuasive and customer focussed
  • Strong negotiation and contract skills
  • Experience of dealing with
    client portfolios***
    Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience of working in the rail industry
  • Experience of developing investment business cases
