At Smiths Detection we have a fantastic opportunity to earn as you learn and provide a real-world introduction into Project Management.n.nWe are seeking a Project Management Intern with a positive and proactive attitude to join our Programmes team for a large technology and engineering business based in Hemel Hempstead.

It's an excellent opportunity for a bright and driven individual to get an insight into a career in Project Management within an engineering environment.


Over the course of the internship the individual will gain a thorough understanding of the business, with time spent with various teams, and exposure to project management and project controls within a technology development department.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:


Assisting with the initiating, planning, monitoring & controlling, communicating and close-out phases of projects, contributing to the completion of Product Lifecycle Process Gates where applicable.nActing under direction coordinate specific activities of integrated project and/or cross-functional teams to contribute to the successful completion of milestones.nSupport with the maintenance of project records.nAssist with the establishment and maintenance of cost and schedule baselines.nContribute to monthly variance analysis for explaining and interpreting impact against the baseline.

Support with the completion and tracking of corrective/preventative actions.nSupport the effective execution of project controls related to the initiating, planning, monitoring & controlling, communicating and close-out phases of all projects in their assigned portfolio.nSupport the completion of timely, accurate and standardised project reporting.nSupport with the creation of inclusive and coordinated project environments to achieve project success.nEnsure individual compliance with company policies for Ethics, Health, Safety and Environment.


About You:
nMinimum Entry Requirements

5 GCSE or equivalent at grade 4-9nLevel 2 in Maths and English

nA passion for technology with an interest in project managementnEnergetic and determined.nDeveloping verbal and written communication and people management skills.nGood problem-solving skills.nA natural passion to deliver against commitments.nAbility to communicate with peers.nGood attention to detail, highly organised.nAbility to work with general instructions on routine work and with detailed guidance on new assignments.nFluent in written communications and able to articulate complex issues.nWillingness to learn new skills.
