Join us as an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Instructor, and you'll join one of the most exciting and challenging projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.**At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.


As an I&C Instructor, you will form part of HPC's pre operations workforce, working within the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA).

Once qualified, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of I&C instruction and training, using both classroom and simulated environments.


In your role, you will ensure accuracy of material, adherence to the training standards / procedures, and excellence in quality of delivery.

You will be required to travel and deliver training where required, to ensure personnel have the required knowledge to carry out their roles to a high level.

What you'll be doing

  • Undertaking Fleet Certified Instructor (FCI) training within 2 years.
  • Developing and delivering I&C Training related training material.
  • Delivering training in classroom and plant simulator environments, as well as providing coaching and mentoring of trainees to expedite learning.
  • Acting as course coordinator for responsible training areas.
  • Ensuring company values, safety and OpEx are embedded throughout the training, training material and lesson plans.
  • Communicating with line managers for the successful development of competence within your staff.
  • Maintaining relationships with both generation and EPR stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts for development of material.
  • Communicating with external contractors if required, to provide training support services.
  • Fully contributing to the business plan of the NSA and NNB in support of achievement of our company organisational goals.

Who you are

Your background may include some of the following:

  • Experience in a I&C related discipline and knowledge of one or all of the following I&C Systems; TXS, Siemens SPPA, UNICORN
  • Experience of working in the field of Power Generation is preferred, however relevant experience in other related industries will be considered.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team with strong mentoring and influencing skills.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and solve technical problems.
  • Knowledge of training processes and experience of the delivery of high quality technical / practical training.
  • Knowledge of modern learning methods and media and experience of bringing these in the development and delivery of training.
  • Holder of a recognised teaching/training qualification is desirable.
  • Good understanding of the key aspects of nuclear power plant systems and operation is desirable.
