Trainee Printer

Purpose

To start in Pre-Press learning the basic printing machine support functions and then to progress through to hands-on training on a machine with an experienced printer.

The role will initially include:

• Plate mounting, assembly of print cylinders, Anilox selection and preparation, ink preparation, cutter and tool mounting, material loading and change overs
• Strip down press/make ready for next job
• Check print job schedule running order to improve shift efficiency
• Contribute to maintaining a Continuous Improvement culture
• Strict adherence to Production procedures and SOP's
• Equipment general maintenance, maintaining high levels of cleanliness
• Follow all safety procedures and SOP's whilst performing job tasks
• Provide cover on press when required (following successful training)
• Load reels
• Industry recognised training (EFIA) delivered by a modular elearning programme will be offered after successful completion of the probationary period, leading to a professional qualification

Key requirements:

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal (English language essential)
• GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
• An effective team player and able to work independently
• A proactive, 'can do' positive attitude
• Excellent attention to detail and able to follow instructions/procedures
• Computer literate

Experience required:

• Manufacturing experience advantageous
• Previous prepress/printing experience advantageous

Shift pattern
Double Days

Early Shift 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday, half an hour unpaid lunch

Late Shift 2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday, half an hour unpaid lunch
