Job summary:


Working within the Global Partnering and Engagement team, the Head of Partnering and Engagement (Europe and Mediterranean) - HoPE (EM) - is responsible for developing and building business arrangements with a wide range of data partners across the Europe and Mediterranean area including National Hydrographic Offices, academia and industry for delivery of data and permissions on the best possible terms for UKHO.

Other HoPE colleagues perform the same function across other regions, working as a team to ensure that the UKHO has access to the data and products required to meet the organisation's objectives.

Please note, this role is being offered as a development role.

As such, a programme of training and mentorship will be offered to the successful applicant, tailored to meet their needs.

Specific, measurable development milestones will be agreed for the successful applicant and regular monitoring will take place. The intention will be for the successful applicant to attain substantive C2 grade within approximately 12 months of appointment.

We offer hybrid working and a mixture of working from home and the office is common across the team.

Some tasks (for example, receiving international visitors) will require you to be in the office, where other tasks may be achieved working mainly at home.


Job description:

Responsibilities will include:

  • Formulation and ownership of the Europe and Mediterranean regional engagement and data supply strategy;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with existing and new data partners to secure new data and permissions and ensure continuation of existing supply on the best possible terms for UKHO;
  • Within the context of marine geospatial data and relationship management, understanding the range of regional factors including political, economic, environment and social issues, and providing advice to UKHO staff at all levels
  • Monitoring relevant innovation in region and reporting back to HQ.
  • Acting as an advocate for UKHO and representing the organisation at appropriate national/international conferences and events including relevant Regional Hydrographic Commissions (RHCs).
