In order to achieve this, the Portfolio lead will be accountable for running the Project Management Office (PMO), which includes overseeing the innovation programme to deliver on the annual budget of c£25m, to time and to scope.

In addition, measuring benefits from the Vulnerability, Innovation and Engagement portfolio and driving remedial action where necessary.

Additionally, the portfolio lead will ensure our processes, reporting and regulatory returns are fit for purpose and aligned to our mission.


Dimensions:

Responsible for the overall Project Management Office functions, relating to Vulnerability, Innovation and Engagement project delivery
Responsible for tracking benefits from Vulnerability, Innovation and Engagement expected to outperform our target of £137m in RIIO-ED2
Responsible for reporting on a Vulnerability, Innovation and Engagement portfolio in excess of £25m per annum
Responsible for preparation of regulatory reporting information with respect to expenditure and benefits from Vulnerability, Innovation and Engagement

Principal Accountabilities:


Measurement of benefits from innovation activities to date, recommending and pursuing remedial actions where necessary to ensure the expected level of benefits are delivered.

Reporting benefits delivered to Ofgem as part of UK Power Networks' annual regulatory return.
Ownership and development of management information associated with benefits tracking.
Monitoring delivery of Vulnerability, Innovation and Engagement projects in-flight, identifying key risks and escalating where appropriate.
Preparing monthly status reports for the Executive Management Team (EMT) and Senior Management Team (SMT).
Planning for preparation of project reports as required by Ofgem (for example, 6 monthly progress reports and close-down reports).
Financial month-end activities to reconcile project expenditure, and financial forecasting.
Develop and run processes and procedures to manage the innovation "funnel" comprising ideas at concept stage, ideas being worked up, trials underway, handed to business rollout
- and then to track use of solutions through-out the regulatory period.
Support the procurement process on Vulnerability, Innovation and Engagement projects.

Nature and scope:


As part of the management team, you will be engaged in initiatives across the business which look to take unconventional approaches to meet our business objectives faster, cheaper, or with better outcomes.

This will range from engineering, through to Information Technology and Communications (ICT) through to service improvements and techniques able to make a step change in our health and safety performance.


As such, you will be comfortable and experienced in tracking outcomes and benefits form a wide range of initiatives which improve customer service, deploy a new engineering solution, reduce effort involved in a process, and so on.


You will be numerate, at the same time highly practical about how benefits are achieved within a business - either through headcount savings, through meeting reduced budgets, or by delivering improved service for the same effort.
