Hatfield, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom Ocado Group Full time
**
About Us:Our Central Operations stream is a crucial part of our global technology enterprise. Our dedicated teams are here to help our clients, fellow engineers, and support functions. We collaborate with world class individuals, design and implement well-defined procedures, and utilise advanced tools at our disposal.

This department plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our Complex Engineering Projects, staying within budget, and meeting the specific needs of our Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) Solutions clients worldwide.

About the Role:

We are looking for an inspirational and accomplished technical team leader to join our Third Party Products Engineering Team.

This team is comprised of talented and multi-skilled product and project engineering professionals, who take engineering requirements and scopes from our OSP clients globally, and work with third parties, to design, procure and integrate bespoke technology products to success within the solution.

These engineers will support a variety of different projects, which may include implementation of new products or revisions to existing products, and in doing so will engage closely with internal stakeholders in our development, supply chain and implementation teams, in order to support the design, procurement and delivery of these products.

You'll be a trusted and empowering technical team leader, with an excellent understanding of project engineering, as well as experience managing the performance and wellbeing of team members.

You'll cultivate an environment of innovation, experimentation and continuous improvement, and will instil and foster a collaborative culture, where team members build trusting relationships internally and externally to the business.

You'll also make sure that the team's products and services pursue technical excellence, and will review, maintain and disseminate any product technical documentation (including BoMs, manuals and install guides) provided by the development teams.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced team leader to drive and champion Ocado's Project Engineering capability.

Please note that as part of this role, international travel to client sites may be required.

About you:

You will have:

  • Demonstrable experience and success with Project Engineering, as well as Field Installation of products and systems.
  • Prior experience of mentoring, coaching and line managing others effectively, supporting their development.
  • The ability to lead and direct your own and others' work to achieve objectives.
  • Prior experience with acceptance testing and commissioning of engineering systems.
  • A track record of delivering projects on time and within approved budgets.
  • Excellent technical and practical competence relating to automation and general engineering.
  • Experience of projects and products in manufacturing, automotive, airports, FMCG distribution or similar field, ideally in an International context.
  • Strong communication skills, with the aptitude to debate detail (both technical and commercial) with both internal and external parties.
  • A Technical or Engineering qualification to degree level in a relevant field.
  • A Full Clean Driving Licence.

This would make you stand out from the crowd...

  • Working knowledge of a range of project management skills, tools and approaches.
  • Able to define and establish management processes.
  • Experienced with managing remote teams.

What we offer you:

Our employee benefits are designed for you, we care about people and we've ensured we have a wealth of benefits that focus on your well-being.
