Experience:

  • Must have experience of cooking simple meals.
  • Preferred experience of cooking for those with dietary requirements and allergies.
  • Preferred (but not essential) experience of Safer Food, Better Business
  • May suit someone who has worked in a café or school kitchen

General Description:

A rare opportunity has arisen for a person to work in our 5 star food hygiene rated kitchen.

Specific aims of the job:

The job involves the following:

  • Following the provided 4 weekly rotation of menus
  • Simple Food Preparation
  • Use of an oven (but not for baking)
  • Use of Domestic rated cooking appliances
  • Timing things so that everything is ready for the children at the same time.
  • Washing up and putting away items used for breakfast
  • Producing toast and drinks for the children's morning snack
  • Washing up and putting away snack items
  • Producing Lunch
  • Making sufficient sandwiches for the children to eat at teatime.
  • Preparing fruit for afternoon snack
  • Washing and clearing up as you go.
  • Following Safer Food, Better Business at all times.
  • A small amount of written work e.g. Documenting temperatures and checks done daily etc.
  • Reviewing stock and stock rotation
  • Completing food orders to fulfil the menu requirements for the following week.
  • Taking delivery of the food and putting it away in cupboards, fridge and freezer.
  • Taking out the rubbish daily.
  • Carrying out the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Accepting training, guidance and feedback.
  • This is purely a kitchen/food preparation job it does not involve supervising groups of children or leading children's activities.

  • Someone who is able to work alone in the kitchen

Training:

  • Training on the nursery's policies, procedures and menus will be provided.
