  • Completed 12 weeks of clinical placement in an acute setting, in your field of study

The role of the HCSW is a clinical, patient facing role, working under direct supervision of registered practitioners, toprovidethe best care and support for our women, infants,childrenand young people at BWC.


Provide, amongst other tasks, personal care, support nutritional needs, complete physiological observations and ensure they always maintain excellent lines communication and escalation of concerns.


This may include high dependency care of seriously ill children in the intensive care unit, Paediatric theatres, mental health services, maternity departments, gynaecology, neonatal and Paediatric wards and day services.

Review and escalate concerns to registered practitioner.
Complete written documentation within the standards and guidelines of the Trust's Standards for Record Keeping Policy. Assist in maximising the effectiveness of communication by utilising appropriate reporting system.

Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
