Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic registered children's nurse to work within the Nottingham Children's Complex Nutrition team.

The successful candidate will be joining a MDT team nurses caring for children requiring complex nutrition. You will be hospital based with a responsibility to see children in inpatient and outpatient settings and to liaise with families at home.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will:

Be based in the Nottingham Childrens Hospital and work collaboratively within the multi-professional paediatric nutrition team to provide advanced nursing care to children.

Be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff.

Provide leadership to the children and young peoples nutrition team taking responsibility for appraisals, professional development and mandatory training.

Be responsible for the day to day operational management of the service embedded and working within the PGHAN service.

Work alongside the consultant PGHAN team to support the strategic development and commissioning of the clinical networks for paediatric nutrition.

Work with the wider nutrition MDT and nurse educators in developing trust policy and practice in relation to nutrition, establish relationships with ward nutrition link nurses and play a lead role in audit of current practice in relation to nutrition.

Ensure the advancement of patient focused care and support through a collaborative approach with all members of the multidisciplinary team.

Be responsible for the management of a caseload of patients.

As a nursing lead within the nutrition team, make a significant contribution to developing existing services, providing education, support and advice to patients, their families and professionals involved in the care of patients with complex nutrition including PN.

This role requires a high level of autonomy and decision making.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse Child BSc/BA in nursing Demonstrable teaching qualification Able to effectively coordinate care for children with long term conditions Significant experience in gastroentrology and nutrition

Non medical prescriber

Communication and Relationship

Essential

Evidence of initiating and implementing change effectively in response to clinical or organisational demands. Able to present and receive relevant clinical information to or from a multi-professional audience.

Desirable

Good team building skills able to demonstrate how to motivate and lead.

Planning and Organising

Essential

Evidence of leadership experience. Able to develop, implement and monitor local protocols and objectives. Able to organise own workload.
