Prescribing Clerk


Stour Surgery is a proactive and friendly practice serving over 10,000 patients in the Christchurch area and we are looking for a Prescribing Clerk to join our team.

The role of a Prescribing Clerk is to

  • Process all repeat medication requests sent in by patients.
  • Liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests.
  • Ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are already in place and ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly.
  • To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP.
  • Work with our Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician to provide an efficient prescribing service for our patients.
The position is a job share, working 17 hours per week.

Hours are negotiable and can be discussed at interview, however cover must be provided across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and include a 6pm finish on a Friday.

It is essential that you provide cover for sickness and holidays to ensure continued service.


Applicants should be well motivated, enthusiastic, have excellent customer service & communication skills and be able to work under pressure.

They must have excellent attention to detail, and organisational skills. They should ideally have experience working within general practice and have knowledge of the SystmOne clinical system. However full training will be given to the right applicant.
