The Department of Paediatric Surgery provides a comprehensive service for children up to 16 years of age for Oxfordshire and is a tertiary referral service for a catchment area of 3 million from Winchester to Kettering, Milton Keynes to Cheltenham for paediatric surgery and paediatric urology.

In the John Radcliffe Hospital there is a 20 bed surgical ward which is shared with orthopaedic surgery. We work closely with neonatal and paediatric intensive care units and high dependency units.

A regional Neonatal Surgical Service for the Oxford Region is delivered and currently approximately 200 neonatal surgical emergencies are treated each year.
