Representative Responsibilities:

  • Plans facility projects, evaluates, researches information identifies equipment and material needs; gathers and compiles vendor bids for maintenance and capital projects
  • *Coordinates maintenance of internal/external physical condition of parish premises to ensure a clean, safe and orderly environment suitable for parish activities and business
  • Orders parts and supplies as necessary; schedules and monitors work around classroom schedules and events as efficiently as possible
  • Monitors quality and quantity of maintenance work performed
  • Identifies potential health and safety hazards for correction
  • Directs work of the maintenance/custodial staff; monitors task performance; identifies performance problems, administers discipline policy as necessary; resolves employee problems
  • Maintains good, cooperative working relations with staff members, parish members and other users of the facilities
  • On call 24/7 for after hour facility, maintenance, and emergency needs as they arise.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :

Supervises or performs the following as appropriate:
  • Installs, maintains, repairs and replaces lighting and fixtures
  • Prepares surfaces for application of paint; determines type of surface preparation required; paints surfaces as required
  • Maintains HVAC equipment, and other mechanical equipment; monitors all energy management and temperature controls; checks controls to ensure proper operation
  • Works with contract services to ensure cleanliness of school and cafeteria, lawn maintenance, snow removal, and HVAC maintenance, etc.
  • Provides for recycling and trash disposal
  • Provides set up and take down for meetings and gatherings as required by parish/ministry staff
  • Maintains and completes minor repairs on facilities and equipment as required
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure efficient performance--includes inspection, cleaning, testing and checking of fluid levels, belts, hoses and other parts
  • Maintains floors, carpets, tiles, concrete, terrazzo, etc.
  • Removes snow/ice from walks and driveways; shovels snow using hand shovels and snow blower; applies ice melting chemicals as necessary
  • Maintains inventory of shop equipment and supplies; ensures equipment is adequately identified as belonging to parish
  • Verifies proper receipt and conformance with contract specifications or ordered equipment and supplies; approves and notifies Business Administrator of verification to pay bills and assign general ledger account numbers
  • Ensures cleanliness of rooms, halls, and restrooms in all parish facilities to meet appearance, health and safety standards; properly cleans and sanitizes restrooms and supplies them with necessary paper products and soap; disposes of waste and garbage on a daily basis
Staff Member
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the total parish goals and objectives
  • Work cooperatively with staff at meetings, special staff days, and in the office
