We have an exciting opportunityto join our amazing integrated therapy team. As a part of Children's SALT, you will bepart of the Children and Young People's Integrated Therapy team. There will also be dedicated time and opportunities to shadow therapists in various settings, attend training sessions and develop your knowledge and skills within the wider school age therapy team.

You will be responsible for the planning and management of your own school-age caseload and service delivery using an impact-based model of clinical decision making. You also have the opportunity to actively contribute to service development and provide supervision and support to junior staff members if this is an area that interests you.

This role includes supporting children who attend mainstream schools and specialist resources in Wokingham.

We are happy to consider those looking for part time or flexible working patterns. The role will involve travel to several sites but also leaves room for some home working.

Our CYPIT service supports children and young people from birth to 19 years of age across Berkshire. We're an integrated therapy service, committed to impact-based clinical decision making and co-production of therapy plans with our families and partners.

Main duties of the job

To function as a specialist autonomous clinician, with a role in supporting delivery of the CYPIT model, development of the CYPF (Children and Young People and Families model) and provide support to other more junior CYPIT therapists and non-professional staff. To provide high quality assessment and interventions for children and young people with developmental / complex needs in area of specialist expertise, using evidence based/person-centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. To provide specialist therapy input into clinical services within a designated area/team, contributing to defined projects as requested by Clinical Leads.

Job responsibilities

The3 must haves for you to be considered for this role:

Qualified Speech and Language Therapist; registered with HCPC. Experience (including placement experience) in working with children or adults with complex or neurological needs. Ability and readiness to travel to multiple sites within central Reading.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

Professional Qualification Professional knowledge acquired through degree/ diploma supplemented by post graduate diploma specialist training, experience, short courses plus further specialist Training Able to demonstrate an understanding of the diverse needs of children and young people.

Desirable

Clinical educators' course Member of relevant clinical specialist interest group Able to demonstrate required clinical knowledge of up to date children's Speech and Language Therapy interventions and service issues

Training

Essential

Recognised CPD in area of clinical specialism Able to demonstrate understanding of a neurodevelopmental approach to the management of CYP

Desirable

Experience with the assessment and delivery of AAC Post graduate clinical experience and working knowledge in specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Experience of supervision and training of junior therapists/ Assistant staff and/or other professionals Willingness to undertake leadership and management training and development

Previous Experience

Essential

Minimum 1 years post qualification experience in adults or paediatrics

Desirable

Experience of working with families from a wide variety of backgrounds including age and ethnicity Experience of working with CYP with communication difficulties and supporting CYP with physical and/or learning difficulties

Desirable

Evidence of experience with managing dysphagi Evidence of an understanding and application of Care Planning approaches, and evidence of a belief in its value Experience in managing less senior staff Ability to work in a calm and confident manner in stressful situations Ability to work successfully as part of a multi-disciplinary team
