Payroll Manager will lead and develop the payroll team in providing a fully managed payroll service for approximately 9,000 employees, 3,000 causal staff, and 3,000 pensioners.
The role will utilise Oracle Cloud software, ensuring that performance is efficient,accurate, timely and in line with all relevant conditions of service and current legislation as appropriate.
- Leadership and management of payroll team; guide, motivate, and coach direct reports, prioritising workloads as necessary supporting them to develop and deliver services to quality standards aligned with the University's requirements.
- Identify process improvements and efficiencies supporting system development, as required and lead on their implementation.
- The post holder must comply with relevant legal and financial policies and procedures and be aware of their responsibilities in terms of the legal requirements of their posts.
Profile
- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification plus a relevant qualification and substantial work experience in payroll roles.
- Authoritative and advanced technical expertise.
- Ability to exercise a substantial degree of independent professional responsibility and discretion.
- Experience of working in partnership with senior decisionmakers with demonstrable success of building good relationships and partnerships with key influencers.
- Up to date knowledge of UK payroll, tax and employment law (as relevant) and best practice approaches in these areas.
