As a Teaching Assistant apprentice you will support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of students under the direction of teaching staff and may be responsible for some learning activities within the overall teaching plan.

You will work towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship as part of your role.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Help to devise and extend educational activities and assist in the preparation of the curriculum
  • Systematically record and assess pupils' achievements and use the results of this monitoring in further support work
  • Support and work with teachers to identify and respond appropriately to individual differences between pupils so that realistic but challenging expectations for them may be set, and contribute to decisions about the most appropriate learning goals and strategies
  • Use a range of supporting techniques to present learning tasks and curriculum content in a clear and stimulating manner in order to maintain pupils' interest and motivation
  • Support individuals and groups in developing expectations of acceptable personal and social behaviour and work with pupils on
basic tasks to help make them part of the learning experience

  • Efficiently prepare, maintain and use classroom teaching materials and equipment, including organising the use of audio/visual equipment, to support the efficient usage of school resources
  • Assist in achieving targets related to the enhancement of pupils' progress through a range of appropriate approaches

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Training will include Functional Skills training in maths and English to achieve Level 2, where required

Working week:

Monday - Friday, shifts to be confirmed

Total hours per week: 33

Expected duration:

16 months
