As a Welfare Coordinator at Samiad Summer School this residential role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of our international students.

This position is instrumental in creating a supportive and nurturing environment, contributing to the overall positive experience for students during their time at the summer school.

Our programmes cater for children and teenagers, aged between 7 and 18 years old. The role is residential with food and accommodation included. You will report directly to the Campus Manager throughout your employment. At all of our schools we have a management team of 4-5 staff.

WELFARE AND COMMUNICATION OTHER DUTIES:

  • Assist with the transfer of students to and from the airport if needed.
  • Assist with the arrivals and departures of students.
  • Represent the company in a reputable and professional manner at all times.
  • Respond to emergencies when necessary.
  • Take photographs of students.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of student discipline, safety, and welfare.
  • Attend the company's staff training weekend (where applicable).
  • Attend all staff briefings and participate in all necessary health and safety training.
  • Commit to being a positive role model through your employment.
  • Perform all other reasonable tasks.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, addressing any concerns or issues they may have.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the welfare team, ensuring a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, promoting a sense of community and wellbeing among students.
  • Ensure the health and safety of students through the implementation and oversight of safety protocols.
  • Act as a liaison between students, parents, and programmes management to ensure effective communication and resolution of welfarerelated matters.
  • Conduct regular checkins with students to assess their wellbeing and address any challenges they may be facing.
  • Lead a team of staff to help support students with their social life at camp, punctuality, hygiene and general wellbeing.
  • Be prepared to handle and respond to any crisis or emergency situations, collaborating with appropriate personnel and following established protocols.
  • Facilitate orientation sessions to familiarise students with the programmes, facilities, and available support services.
  • Support the integration of new students into the summer school community.
    Maintain accurate records of student welfarerelated incidents, communications, and support provided.
  • Prepare reports for programmes managers as required.
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model for students, cultivating a sense of community and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Engage with students during meals and leisure hours, ensuring an enjoyable yet secure atmosphere.
  • The undertaking of accommodation supervision in the evenings will also be necessary.
  • Take on responsibilities for house duties, such as wakeup routines and oversight, contributing to the overall goal of promoting a positive atmosphere within our summer schools.
  • Every member of staff must read and comply with Samiad's Child Safeguarding policy at all times.
  • Support the wellbeing of the team

EXCURSIONS PLANNING AND DELIVERY:

  • Having been briefed beforehand, you will lead a trip meeting for other staff members.
  • Lead and supervise excursions once a week, ensuring the wellbeing of all students.
  • Conduct continuous head counts throughout the trip

QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

No formal qualifications required. DBS checks will be conducted.
Experience working with groups of children. Strong leadership and organizational skills.
First Aid/CPR certification. Enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for working with young people.
Ability to adapt to a dynamic and multicultural environment. A positive attitude and excellent communication skills.

PAY AND HOURS OF WORK:
Welfare Coordinators are scheduled for 18 sessions per week, including preparation time and two mealtimes daily. Each day is divided into three sessions—morning, afternoon, and evening. Pay starts at £525 per week, inclusive of food and accommodation.
