Job Description:


Mech Electrics is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solar Estimator to join our clients' dynamic team based in Blackburn.

This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, with two days per week available for remote work.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for solar projects, contributing to the continued growth and success of our company.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for solar energy projects, including materials, labour, and equipment.
Review project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.

Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to ensure all aspects of the project are considered in the estimate.

Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
Analyse and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
Maintain and update a database of historical project costs and current market rates.
Provide support during the bid review and negotiation process.
Assist in the preparation of project schedules and budgets.
Communicate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure all estimating activities comply with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as an estimator, preferably in the solar or renewable energy industry.
Strong understanding of solar energy systems and components.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
