We are seeking a computing tutor to deliver impactful modules across different courses at our University of Sussex International Study Centre, catering to various levels including Foundation, International Year 1, and Pre Masters.
This role is ideal for an experienced Computer Science teacher or someone familiar with teaching computing at a degree level. PhD students with a passion for computing education are also encouraged to apply. Proficiency in the Java programming language or other Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) languages is essential.
ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Contribute to designing, delivering, and evolving modules and teaching sessions
  • Prepare and conduct teaching lectures, seminars, and tutorial sessions
  • Create module exams and various assessments
  • Assess students' submissions and offer prompt feedback
  • Update course materials and ensure Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) content is current
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student welfare and progression
  • Implement quality assurance procedures and contribute to course reviews
  • Participate in standardisation, moderation, and quality assurance meetings
ABOUT YOU
  • Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject area (Essential)
  • Additional qualifications are advantageous, with a master's usually required for teaching on International Year 1 and pre-masters programmes
  • Teaching qualification is desirable
  • Experience in UK higher or further education and with international students is essential
  • Ability to develop and update teaching materials, preferably with Virtual Learning Environment experience
