A leading UK residential developer and contractor is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for an Acton based project.

The RC frame development consists of 500 units, covering 50 storeys, has unitised cladding with some rain screen and flat roofing, precast elements and structural steel.

It includes full residential and commercial fit out.

The first year would be covering heavy procurement, overseeing frame, façade, internals along with hard & soft landscaping. There would then be full package management and commercial management duties to oversee on the development.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.


We are looking for someone with experience working on rc frame, multi-phase residential developments from either a developer or main contractor background.

Maintain all cost control procedures working within the guidelines set out within the Group commercial management policies and proceduresnBe responsible for the compilation of all weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as requirednBe aware of new materials and methods of construction which the company may employ, as well as a sound knowledge of latest regulations, codes of practice and NHBC requirementsnAny subordinates to receive the required training and mentorship for them to learn and thrive in their responsibilitiesnBe responsible for all cost control procedures, including managing and controlling the budget and valuations by always updating the estimated final costs, and having the ability to show absolute cost and value reconciliationnBe able to control all commercial tasks and responsibilities on large sites, including those in excess of 400 unitsnContribute to the conceptual designs/options to ensure the design is kept within the budgeted valuesnCompile a site start budget, liaising with all departments to ensure document is completed on time to allow the construction to commence, and sales to start marketingnLead the value engineering to ensure we achieve best valuenMaintain budget control throughout development; and manage cost overrunsnComplete accurate costing for each aspect of site developmentnAnalyse and report on costs and cash flow using the support systems availablenPrepare tenders and procure sub-contractors, goods and materials, using group proceduresnCompile subcontractor recommendations for approvalnProcess Subcontract orders, payments and variations, using excel and payment system (Easybuild) in line with the group policy and proceduresnEvaluate and agree variations and instructions, always aware of budgetary constraints, and ensuring that approval is obtained prior to agreement of variations in excess of the respective allowancesnLiaise with site personnel and subcontractors in order to maximise productivitynAttend all project and team meetings as required, and present the commercial position to the meetingnCompile and present interim valuationsnBe responsible for accurately controlling all commercial aspects and responsibilities with regards to the RSLnComplete any other duties as required by the Senior Directors
