We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Kiln Burner within our Operations Team.

In a nutshell, you will be responsible for:
Setting and firing kilns with hand-crafted luxury Shaws sinks, and to remove kiln cars after firing. This will be a standalone position at times, due to the 24hr process in kiln firing cycles.

What you are already great at:

  • Loading and unloading kilns in accordance with the correct procedure
  • To ensure that all sinks are dried correctly through the timely starting of dryers, emptying, and loading sinks into dryer and counting stock in dryers.
  • Levelling and straightening sinks every hour to ensure they do not twist.
  • Carry out hourly checks on kilns and dryers and record results.
  • Regular testing and adjustment of casting slip to ensure slip specification is maintained.
  • Adhering to health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines always.
  • Ensuring correct PPE is always worn.
  • Always follow SOP standards as trained.
  • Striving to do your best to achieve targets set for your area.
  • Ensuring that housekeeping standards are always met through regular cleaning of the area.
  • Communicating any material defects, unsafe practices, or equipment to the Departmental team Leader.
  • Understanding the process, they are responsible for, and the impact of its failures.
  • Being willing to undertake training to develop in role and improve performance across other departments.
  • To make an hourly call to external security in line with the Check Call Procedure.

For this role we would need you to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Excellent at multi tasking and working with competing priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a crossfunctional and collaborative team environment
  • Be a confident and credible operator
