Nursing Assistant

This will include the eating disorder physical health check clinic. The role will be to support the registered nurse to complete a physical assessment of the patient attending.

This will include:
height, weight, middle upper arm circumference (MUAC), blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation level, temperature and pulse. It will also include venepuncture and ECG.


The appointment will also include the specialist nursing assistant contributing to the overall assessment of the patient in terms of their physical appearance and assessing for risk factors such as weight loss, impaired cognition, lanugo hair etc.


The nursing assistant will be required to document findings and disseminate these findings to the wider multi-disciplinary team, particularly if this patient is presenting as acutely unwell and is of high risk.


The nursing assistant alongside the nurse will be required to respond if the patient is acutely unwell within the appointment and requires medical intervention.


This is a brand-new post to the eating disorder care pathway, and ideas around the development of this post will be welcomed.

There is a possibility hours could be increased


The post holder would be based at Cumberland Centre and Avon House when working within the eating disorder physical health check clinic.

The post holder would work 7.5 hours on a Monday (excluding bank holidays).
