Randstad Education is working with a large secondary school in Bristol to recruit a flexible and resourceful teaching assistant to join their dedicated and friendly learning support team.

You will be supporting the academic progress of those students with additional needs who are identified as disadvantaged.

This is a learning-centred school, where high-quality teaching and wider opportunities helps students of all abilities to achieve their ambitions.


Job requirements:

  • A real passion for working with young people
  • Ideally have experience working with young people including art & drama workshops; dance/theatre school; Scouts, Guides, Brownies; sports coaching; youth support work; summer camp
  • Able to work with the teacher to create learning resources appropriate to the student that they are supporting
  • Confident working with children who have SEMH (social, emotional, mental health) needs
  • A good standard of general education, to include literacy and numeracy skills
  • Be willing to research and learn about supportive technologies that can be used in the classroom
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to get one)
  • The means to get to the school for early starts (typically 8:30am starts)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship provided)

The role:

  • You will be working 8am until 3pm, term time only
  • Initial training will be provided by the school
  • Work with a wide range of teachers to deliver excellent teaching and learning, which enables students to achieve high standards and make appropriate progress
  • Coach children on a 1:1 or group basis
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all learners
